What data are used in Rainward? ▶
Rainward synthesises a collection of open data sources, primarily from OpenWeatherMap API, which itself obtains data from private and governmental meteorological organisations. Radar data is provided by RainViewer.
How accurate are reports by Rainward? ▶
Based on error estimations by OpenWeatherMap API, the platform's hyperlocal AI model is highly accurate, with less than 1% of forecasts deviating from the actual temperature by more than 5 °C. Rainward simply redistributes this data in an intelligible and illustrative manner.
Is Rainward better than traditional news bulletins? ▶
Since Rainward reports are not restricted to one geographical area and are accessible to any user with an internet connection, its versatility and reach are unmatched. Its digestible illustrations and live nature mean weather data is constantly updating — often unseen in traditional weather media. Refer to multiple sources for your weather information, as this is advised. However, you will likely find Rainward to be the most comprehensive and understandable — two vital characteristics to communicate weather hazard information.
